GBR recognises the importance of clear, responsible, and effective communication in building relationships, sharing information, promoting its activities, and engaging with members and the wider community. All GBR communications and digital media activities must reflect the organisation’s values of integrity, respect, accountability, truthfulness, and Christlike character.
1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish standards for communications, social media, websites, digital platforms, publications, photography, video, and other forms of media used by or on behalf of GBR.
The policy is intended to ensure that GBR communications are accurate, appropriate, respectful, consistent, and aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
2. Official Communications
Only authorised representatives may issue official statements, announcements, media responses, or other communications on behalf of GBR.
Official communications should:
- Provide accurate and relevant information.
- Use clear, professional, and respectful language.
- Reflect GBR’s approved positions, programmes, and activities.
- Protect confidential and personal information.
- Avoid misleading, discriminatory, offensive, or inappropriate content.
Members, volunteers, and other participants must not represent personal views as official GBR positions unless authorised to do so.
3. Social Media and Digital Platforms
GBR’s social media accounts, websites, messaging platforms, newsletters, and other digital channels must be used responsibly and in accordance with GBR policies.
Content published through GBR platforms should be:
- Respectful and appropriate for the intended audience.
- Accurate and reasonably verified before publication.
- Consistent with GBR’s values and public image.
- Respectful of privacy, confidentiality, and intellectual property.
- Free from harassment, threats, discriminatory content, or intentionally misleading information.
GBR reserves the right to remove content or restrict access to its digital platforms where content violates this policy or other applicable standards.
4. Personal Use of Social Media
Members, staff, volunteers, and representatives may use personal social media accounts to express their own views. However, individuals should make it clear when they are expressing personal opinions rather than speaking on behalf of GBR.
Individuals representing or associated with GBR are encouraged to exercise appropriate judgement when publicly identifying their relationship with the organisation, particularly where online conduct could reasonably be associated with GBR.
5. Photography, Video and Content
Photographs, videos, recordings, written materials, logos, and other content involving GBR activities should be used responsibly and with appropriate permission.
Personal information, private conversations, confidential material, or images of individuals should not be published or distributed without appropriate authorisation or consent where required.
6. Confidentiality and Data Protection
GBR communications must comply with its Privacy & Data Protection Policy. Personal, confidential, financial, membership, or sensitive organisational information must not be disclosed through email, social media, messaging platforms, websites, or other communication channels without proper authorisation.
Reasonable measures should be taken to protect accounts, passwords, documents, and digital communication systems from unauthorised access.
7. Media and External Enquiries
Media enquiries, public statements, or requests for official information should be referred to an authorised GBR representative.
No member, volunteer, staff member, or representative may make commitments, announcements, or statements on behalf of GBR outside the scope of their authorised responsibilities.
8. Intellectual Property
GBR’s name, logo, branding, publications, photographs, documents, and other original materials should be used only for authorised purposes.
Third-party content must be used responsibly and in accordance with applicable copyright, licensing, attribution, and intellectual property requirements.
9. Commitment to Responsible Communication
GBR is committed to communication that promotes truth, respect, transparency, fellowship, constructive engagement, and responsible digital participation.
All individuals communicating on behalf of GBR are expected to uphold the organisation’s standards of integrity, accountability, professionalism, and Christlike character.
