GBR values the contribution of volunteers and recognises their important role in supporting its events, programmes, initiatives, and activities. All volunteers are expected to perform their responsibilities with integrity, accountability, professionalism, and Christlike character.
1. Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers are expected to:
- Carry out assigned duties responsibly, reliably, and to the best of their ability.
- Follow reasonable instructions provided by GBR leadership, coordinators, or authorised representatives.
- Treat members, guests, speakers, partners, fellow volunteers, and members of the public with respect and courtesy.
- Maintain appropriate conduct while representing GBR at events, meetings, community activities, and online platforms.
- Protect GBR property, equipment, documents, information, and other resources entrusted to them.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive or private information obtained through their volunteer activities.
- Promptly report any incidents, concerns, risks, damage, or misconduct to the appropriate GBR representative.
- Avoid using their position as a volunteer for personal financial gain, unauthorised commitments, or activities that may conflict with GBR’s interests.
2. Standards of Conduct
Volunteers must conduct themselves in accordance with GBR’s policies, values, procedures, and applicable laws. Volunteers must not engage in behaviour that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, dishonest, reckless, or otherwise inconsistent with GBR’s standards.
Volunteers are expected to act within the scope of their assigned responsibilities and must obtain appropriate authorisation before making commitments or representing GBR in matters outside their designated role.
3. Health, Safety and Risk
Volunteers are expected to take reasonable care of their own safety and the safety of others while participating in GBR activities. Any accident, injury, unsafe condition, security concern, or other significant incident should be reported to GBR as soon as reasonably possible.
Volunteers should not undertake activities that they are not appropriately authorised, trained, or equipped to perform.
4. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, volunteers acknowledge that they participate in GBR activities voluntarily and are responsible for their own actions, decisions, and conduct.
GBR shall not be responsible for losses, damage, injury, or claims arising from a volunteer’s intentional misconduct, negligence, unlawful conduct, or actions outside the scope of their authorised responsibilities.
Where permitted by law, volunteers agree to indemnify and hold GBR harmless from claims, losses, damages, or expenses arising directly from the volunteer’s unauthorised, unlawful, negligent, or intentional actions while performing volunteer activities.
This provision does not exclude or limit any responsibility or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
5. Acknowledgement
By accepting a volunteer role with GBR, volunteers acknowledge their responsibility to understand and comply with this policy and all applicable GBR policies and procedures.
GBR reserves the right to withdraw or terminate a volunteer role where conduct, performance, or actions are inconsistent with GBR’s values, responsibilities, policies, or standards.
